The Singapore Army and the Indian Army conducted the 13th edition of Exercise Agni Warrior (XAW) 2024, in Devlali, India, from 12 to 30 November 2024. This year's exercise involved more than 290 participants from the Singapore Army and the Indian Army, and culminated in a joint live-firing exercise involving the Singapore Light Weight Howitzer, Field Artillery Meteorological System, and the Indian Army's 155mm Field Howitzer 77B.
Chief Artillery Officer Colonel (COL) Ong Chiou Perng visited the SAF participants at the exercise and said, “This exercise is a testament to the strong defence relationship between Singapore and India. The professional exchanges between soldiers from the 23rd Battalion, Singapore Artillery and the 255 Medium Regiment have not only enhanced our operational capabilities but enabled us to strengthen the friendship between the two nations.”
Held in India since 2004, XAW is conducted under the ambit of the Army Bilateral Agreement, and highlights the warm and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and India. The Singapore Armed Forces and the Indian Armed Forces share a long history of military cooperation, with regular interaction through exercises, military exchanges, visits, courses and other professional exchanges.
